Norm Randolph's Greetings to Oxford Classmates

from a snail-mail message to Ray Wootten, his cousin

After high school, I went to college, then into the Air Force. After that I worked at the post office, and then I went to a Zen monastery near Carmel. I met my wife there, and in 1972 we had a baby boy. Later that year we moved to Minneapolis. In 1977 we had another baby boy. My sons are both grown up now - living on their own and doing well. In April, my older son and his wife had a baby girl. I am enjoying being a grandpa.

In 1994, my wife and I got divorced. But we are still good friends, and we see each other a lot.

During most of the time I have lived in Minneapolis, I have worked as a patient transporter in a hospital. I take patients in wheelchairs from their rooms to their appointments in the hospital. I also help out, on a volunteer basis, with some of the teaching at a couple of Minneapolis Zen centers.

Recently, I have been recovering from some eye surgeries. My doctor says that I am doing well and that I can return to work after the first of the year.

The picture Mara sent me of Oxford School brought up some great memories for. Ray and I were recently saying what a happy and important time that was for both of us.

I was sorry to hear about Bill Gatewood, David Gordon and Bobbi Pape. I also remember the great drawings and stories that Bruce Duncan told in Miss Swain's class.

Best wishes to all of you. I will be thinking of you on December 30th.

Norm
