Intersection of Hopkins St., El Dorado, Sutter in the 1940s.
I lived a half block from here at 1968 Hopkins. We knew Joe Silvera who ran Joe's Market where we shopped.
The druggist used to chase us out of Northbrae Pharmacy because we hung out there for hours reading comic books.
I used my first paper route pay to buy a couple of dozen glazed donuts from the Cottage Bakery and sat on the embankment by the tunnel and ate them all. Seldom so sick.
