Hi, Kent,

Good to hear from you.  It seems likely that the picture of my class was taken in 1949-1950.  One of girls in the class, Joan Brady, was only at Oxford for a year or two before we graduated.  She is the 3rd person visible in the 4th row of desks from the left.  I have been able to identify about 15 of the people in the photo; if I had the original I could probably pick of several others.  As far as I can see I am not shown in the picture although I am probably there somewhere.  You are right about Wei-i Li, he's right up there in front of the photo in the 3rd row.  In thinking about the structure of the school it seems sure to be Mrs. Witty's 5th grade class in the end room on the south side of the upper floor.  If this is the case then the photo was likely taken from Sept., 1949 to June, 1950. when we were in the 5th grade.
On Christmas Day I was able to show the site to my brother Don who graduated from Oxford in 1936. We had a good time looking at the photos.  Some were of Oxford when he was there, when the upper and lower terraces had no concrete walls or fences, just dirt. Another thing you don't see at schools or anywhere else are trash incineraters like the one next to the stairs down to the lower terrace near the cafeteria.
Thanks for all the contributations you've made to the site, and thanks to your brother Mervyn for the great tribute to Mr. Jones.  Too bad some people didn't pay attention to him more in their time at Oxford.  All the people I've talked to that went to Oxford during my years there have nothing but the fondest memories of him.  This also applies to my brothers who liked Mr. Jones a lot when they were at Oxford.  I don't know how long Mr. Jones was at Oxford, but it had to be 20 years at least.  I hope he realized how much he meant to the many people whose lives he enriched over the years.
